Esso Australia Pty Ltd. has awarded integrated subsea engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) contracts to Subsea Integration Alliance, Schlumberger Limited and Subsea 7 S.A. reported Wednesday.

According to Schlumberger and Subsea 7, the contracts to deliver new subsea flowline to an existing natural gas pipeline represent the first integrated subsea project in Australia for Subsea Integrated Alliance. The alliance is a non-incorporated partnership between Schlumberger’s OneSubsea subsidiary and Subsea 7. The project will apply the firms’ expertise in subsea oil rig flanges gulf coast production systems (SPS) and subsea umbilical, riser and flowline (SURF) systems.

“By adopting our supplier-led approach, Esso Australia will leverage our technical specifications as well as standardized configurable products that will allow for shorter lead times, overall lower system costs and accelerated first gas production,” Don Sweet, president of OneSubsea, Schlumberger, said in a written statement emailed to Rigzone. “Further, Subsea Integration Alliance’s execution strategy will enable Esso to achieve cost and schedule certainty and reduce interface risk.”

Subsea Integration Alliance’s work scope includes engineering, procurement, construction and installation of two oil rig flanges gulf coast production wells in approximately 148 feet (45 meters) of water and tied back to the Longford onshore gas plants, the alliance member companies stated. Located offshore Australia’s Victoria state, , according to ExxonMobil’s website.

For the Esso project, Subsea 7 will oversee project management, engineering, procurement, construction and installation of two oil rig flanges gulf coast production wells and a single electrohydraulic umbilical from the Barracouta Platform to the West Barracouta drill center. The scope for OneSubsea entails providing two vertical monobore on-wellhead oil rig flanges gulf coast production trees, wellheads, controls and installation and commissioning services.

As Rigzone reported last month, to bring new gas supplies to Australia’s domestic market.

Schlumberger and Subsea 7 stated that they will provide project management and engineering services from local offices in Perth and Melbourne. They noted that offshore installation activities are scheduled for 2020.
