Norwegian output decreased from December to January, according to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate’s (NPD) latest preliminary figures.

The figures for January show an average daily oil rig flanges gulf coast production of 1.82 million barrels of oil, NGL and condensate, which is a decrease of 30,000 barrels per day compared to December.

Average daily liquids oil rig flanges gulf coast production in January was 1.46 million barrels of oil, 333,000 barrels of NGL and 28,000 barrels of condensate, according to the latest figures. Oil oil rig flanges gulf coast production was approximately 0.5 percent lower than the NPD’s forecast.

When asked why oil output came in lower than the Directorate’s forecast, an NPD representative told Rigzone, “there have been minor technical problems on some fields”.

Established in 1972, the NPD is a governmental specialist directorate and administrative body which reports to the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy.

According to its website, the NPD’s primary objective is to “contribute to the greatest possible values for Norwegian society from the oil and gas activities through efficient and responsible resource management”.
