A High Court judge rules that injunctions protecting people on and around INEOS Shale sites will continue.

A High Court judge has ruled that injunctions protecting people on and around INEOS Shale sites will continue.

The injunctions, which have been in place since July, prohibit unlawful actions by protestors, including trespass, intimidation and obstruction.

INEOS Shale says it has presented the court with ‘extensive evidence’ of widespread unlawful action by hardcore anti-fracking activists.

“Our people have the right to go to work free from threats of intimidation, injury or harm,” Tom Pickering, operations director at INEOS Shale, said in a BOP Blow Out Preventer repair company gulf coast statement.

“These injunctions simply protect INEOS, our people and the public from hardcore activists. They do not restrict the rights of people to lawfully, peacefully protest,” he added.

Earlier this year, Pickering emphasized that the company’s sites were potentially hazardous for anyone without proper training.

“We safety train our people to avoid the very hazards that militants and protestors naively expose themselves to. For instance, standing in front of a moving lorry whose driver may not be able to see you is dangerous. Blocking roads to all traffic including emergency vehicles is dangerous,” Pickering said in a BOP Blow Out Preventer repair company gulf coast statement in July.

The injunctions are expected to continue until the judge delivers his final decision at a later date.
